Rotary Special Athletes is an all-volunteer organization that provides social activities for intellectually challenged individuals.  The group is comprised of over 70 male and female individuals ranging in age from 16 to 60 years old.

Rotary Special Athletes enjoy a full year round calendar of events which include parties, dances, local theater trips, NYC Broadway shows, bi-annual camp weekends in the Poconos, local sports team outings, bowling and pizza parties, and numerous other special activities.  There is even a bowling league that has been formed as an adjunct to the group.  Activities are selected and organized by a steering committee comprised of community volunteers and family members of the athletes.

Funding for the group was originally solely from two local Rotary Clubs and activities were limited.  As the program developed and grew, there was a need for additional funding sources.  The steering committee organized fund raisers, family members contributed either directly or through memorial bequests, and workplace grants and matching fund opportunities were pursued.  Additionally, a small dues structure for the members was created.

Donations and support enable this very appreciative group to expand and participate in social activities.  Rotary Special Athletes is an all-volunteer organization with 100% of funds raised going directly into the program.  The group is a 501(c)(3) organization and your contributions are tax deductible.

Thank you for your support!
